Acer palmatum -
Japanese Maple - Deshojo
Native to China, Korea and Japan, now widely used around the globe for Bonsai, several hundred of cultivars exist; Having been cultivated in Japan for centuries , all seed from all cultivars will revert to variation of the original species. The only way to reproduce any of the cultivars is via cuttings air layers or grafting.
General Care
Keep in good light but avoid direct strong sun and provide some protection from strong winds, keep moist at all times, drying out will lead to windburn of delicate leaves. Feed as and when leaves have opened, little and often is the key. They are vigorous trees and continuous tip pruning is needed to maintain shape and increase ramification.
