Chairman's Remarks
Welcome to the website of the Federation of British Bonsai Societies which I hope you will find both informative and stimulating. Since its launch in 2005 the website has become the main portal for the sharing of information with our membership and as a guide for those new to bonsai. For those who are looking to learn more about this absorbing art form, I can commend the many clubs and societies we have here in UK. You will find them welcoming and an excellent source of information and practical advice.
The Federation, aims to present itself in a modern perspective with forward and innovative approaches to keep our art fresh and appealing. This approach also applies to the way we conduct our normal business as we seek ways to improve our services.
We hope to continue our routine activities with displays at the Gardeners World Live Show Birmingham and the European Bonsai Convention as well as conducting the New Talent Contest, Bonsai For All events, the FoBBS Roadshow and of course articles in this website and the Bonsai Europe magazine.
This is all concurrent to the many routine activities that take place to make the organisation run smoothly and we are fortunate to have such a good selection of dedicated volunteers to carry out this work. Of course we always seek additional help and replacements for these people as they reach the end of their term. I urge you all to give serious consideration to serving on the committee at some point in the future.
From the shows we attend there remains immense interest in bonsai and the Federation will constantly seek new ways to inspire and attract these people into the art in order to swell your local societies membership. I see this as continual and perpetual process to overcome the many distractions and demands on busy peoples time. However, with just a little effort from us all we can demonstrate how bonsai can enrich their lives in an otherwise exhausting and hectic society.
