Bonsai Care

Winter care

There are many varieties of tree that are used as subjects for bonsai most are kept outdoors all year round. Check with the place you bought your bonsai to learn what type of tree you have, indoor or outdoor.

Outdoor trees will be able to cope with most weather but to keep them at their best; keep them out of drying winds, do not let them become water logged for long periods and protect them from particularly harsh frosts, those below -5o C. Horticultural fleeces or old net curtains can be used to good effect here

Remember to check moisture levels periodically to avoid roots drying out. Conifers should be kept out of the sun if the rootball is frozen
