Heathrow Bonsai Show

This event, now in its second year, took place on Sunday 6th November 2011 at The Barn, High Street, Harlington, Middlesex. After the success of last year’s event, and taking on-board comments from exhibitors and visitors alike, we expanded the show outwards into three marquees. Unfortunately we did not have any sunshine, but luckily the wind and rain stayed away, and people’s comments about the outside displays were favourable.

Last year’s show attracted 61 visitors; this year’s show attracted 269 visitors - that speaks for itself, a very good turnout enabling the show to financially break even.

There were 67 trees on display of varying standards from the six clubs participating; Berkshire, Chiltern, Middlesex, Surrey Heath, Swindon & Wessex.
There was not a competition, but visitors were able to vote for Best Tree in Show;  this went to Paul Finch's fantastic White Pine.

The demonstration tent was packed all day, with Kevin Wilson showing his many skills. Alongside we ran a slide showing Bonsai trees in Taiwan and India.

The Federation of British Bonsai Societies were represented by Ray Ward and Reg Bolton to whom special thanks must go for their support in every way. The sole trader was Lee Verhorevoort who was selling trees.

Our sincere thanks go to all the clubs and individuals who supported the show, it was a fantastic turn out with a great, friendly mix of people. We hope they enjoyed themselves as much as we did. We hope to see you again next year, same venue on November 4th  2012
