Bonsai Societies from the Midlands
win Silver Gilt at
R.H.S. 'Gardeners World Live'

Local FoBBS bonsai societies were approached by the Royal Horticultural Society to put on an unusually large display at Gardeners World Live this year. The event is held annually at the NEC, Birmingham. David Cheshire from the Ambion Bonsai Club, Nuneaton (previous award winners at Gardeners World Live) was asked to create a display covering 65 feet by 43 feet, to include a Japanese Garden and educational display.

The Federation's participating societies were the Ambion Bonsai Club, Heart of England Bonsai Society, Midland Bonsai Society, Northampton Bonsai Society, Redditch Bonsai Group, South Staffs Bonsai Society and the Friends of the National Bonsai Collection. The Japanese Garden Society helped in stewarding the stand.

Although a complex project and very much experimental in design, the stand succeeded in gaining a good Silver Gilt award and proved a great draw with the public.

Our congratulations go to all those who were involved in the planning and preparation of this extensive display area.
