Apr 08 - Charity Bonsai Auction by Manchester Bonsai Society a Resounding Success
The auction of bonsai trees held in February by Manchester Bonsai Society exceeded all expectations. MBS raised an impressive £1000 which, when converted by gift aid, provides over £1200 to the Macmillan Nurses charity. Our congratulations for a great achievement.
Apr 08 - New British Bonsai Event Planned for Apr 2009 The 'Best of British Bonsai Award' will be held at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens 11-12 Apr 09. It is hoped that this will become a regular national event in the British bonsai calendar. Full details can be found here.

08 - New Kusamono Website for the UK
Building
on her popular Kusamono workshops, Chie Hattori
has launched her new website focussing on this
captivating creative pursuit the results of which
are closely associated with the presentation of
bonsai. Anyone who has created their own accent
plantings will know how absorbing and charming
these miniature plant communities can be. For
those keen to learn more Chie will be conducting
further workshops this year starting 2 Apr at
Windybank Bonsai.

08 - RHS Wisley To Stage Bonsai Study Day
On Weds 20
Aug Nobuyuki Kajiwara will conduct a one-day introductory
session called 'Living with Bonsai'. This will
provide a good insight into bonsai, ranging from
basic daily care to the specific seasonal, hands-on
work required for long-term bonsai development.
The day will form the basis of a further course
projected for 2009 and is suitable for beginners
as well as veteran growers who want to see the
subject from a totally fresh angle.

08 - Manchester Bonsai Society To Hold Charity
Auction
On
10th March Manchester Bonsai Society will hold
an auction of bonsai owned by their late Treasurer,
Roy Collier in aid of the Macmillan nurses charity.
Members of other clubs are invited to help raise
a large sum for such a good cause. More details

08 - A Formidable Bonsai Master Passes Away
It is
with much sadness to announce that Saburo Kato
Sen died on 8 February 2008 age 93. Mr Kato is
admired worldwide for his impressive list of bonsia
achievements that included Chairman to the Nippon
Bonsai Association and Chairman to the World Bonsai
Friendship Federation. He will greatly missed.

Bonsai
A
quality San Jose Juniper was stolen from the Observatory
Bonsia Nursery in Cardiff over the 2007 Christmas
break. The picture above shows the missing tree
undergoing restyling during Sep 07. Please contact
